Michael Finlayson

Following 12 years in legal practise in property law where he was primarily involved in property development, leasing and property finance, Michael joined Balmain in March 2006 as a credit manager within Balmain’s internal credit team. As part of Balmain’s special servicer activities undertaken on behalf of several investment banks, Michael undertook extensive loan recovery work including asset review and assessment, mediation, litigation, appointment and management of external consultants and supervision of internal and external loan servicer, settlements and administration teams.

Michael works closely with Balmain’s asset management team in the development, re-structuring and divestment of property assets of all classes.

Appointed to the role of General Counsel in 2017, Michael is responsible for the management of internal and external legal counsel and works closely with the Executive Team in all aspects of Balmain’s business platforms.  Michael is also a Responsible Member under Balmain’s AFSL.
